The Scarlet Ibis

I believe that the Narrator in the short story "The Scarlet Ibis" is a very selfish person. I believe this because I think the only reason why he wanted his brother to learn to be normal was so he wasn't embarrassed by him. Every day the narrator would take his brother to the Old womans swamp and force him to learn how to walk. Even if his little brother didn't want to or showed no sign of ever being able to walk. I have to say the narrator is a very persistent person. After his little brother finally began to walk the narrator pushed him even harder. he started to make him run, swim, and row their boat to the other side of the water. The story is called "The Scarlet Ibis" because be for the story was over there was an ibis in the front of their house. He look very ill and could not walk. It fell from the tree and soon died. Then the narrators brother buried the bird. The bird is suppose to resemble the narrators disabled brother. The brother couldn't was just as the bird could not fly. They are both different from everyone else of their kind.

Famous Villains Cartoon Characters

My favorite villain ever is Darth Vader.  Darth Vader is one of the main characters in the series Star Wars. In the begging of the movie Darth Vader is a normal kid named Anakin Sky-walker. He starts out as a teenage boy who is learning to become a master Jedi. Towards the end of the third movie one of the other characters who is on the dark side, tells Anakin that he can offer him all of the power in the world. Then Anakin gets into a battle with his master and his whole body gets burned by the lava underneath them. The same character that offers him all of the power saves Anakin, builds him a special suit that can keep him alive, but in return he has to turn over to the dark side. I think Anakin's evil side feeds off of power. The more in control he becomes the more he enjoys being evil. I believe that Anakin is also jealous of his master who is also his teacher. I believe he is jealous of him because he knows that he will never become as good as a Jedi as his master without extra power that the dark side can provide.

Beliefs and opinions on the end of the Lord of the Flies

In the last few chapters of the novel lord of the flies all of the boys on the island except for Piggy, Sam, and Eric, leave Ralph to go join Jacks tribe. They leave Ralph because they feel that Jack will protect them from the beast. Then in the beginning of chapter 12 Roger ties up Sam and Eric and forces them to join their tribe. When the boys first got on the island Ralph was voted leader and had many good ideas. The conch was his first idea which represents who is going to talk. Piggy is very fond of this rule because then the boys have to let him speak.  Then Ralph comes up with the fire that represents getting saved. Then Jack gets focused more on getting meat and killing rather than getting saved. Throughout the story you can tell that Jack gets a little bit wilder every day and he becomes violent. I believe that if there is not a person that is mostly in control then the world would be chaotic. I think this world needs someone in the middle. Someone who doesn’t have complete control, but someone people will listen to. I think the biggest mistake the boys on the island had was when they picked Ralph to be in charge. I think some of the boys didn’t real like Ralph but got out voted. If you don’t have a society that fully agrees, then the society is definitely going to have problems.

Thoughts on Ch. 1-5 lord of the flies

After reading chapter 1-5 I think author William Golding's has some interesting things to say about the human race. He describes his feelings about our species in his book "Lord of the Flies". I believe he feels that if there were no rules or laws in our world, that there would be complete pandemonium and that the murder rate would go through the roof. I also believe that he thinks that people cannot get along and work together. I agree with Mr. Golding that if there were no rules this world would be chaos. But I fully disagree with him on his feeling on how people can't work together.  My main reason why i disagree is because people work together on every day bases. For example, sports teams. A quarter back and his receiver have to work together to get the ball in the end zone to score. There are many more example that prove that people can work together.

How do people react to dangerous situations

Can we trust people to be good?  If we left a group of people on an island with adequate food and water and no external threats, would they be able to live together?

I believe that if a group of people were on a deserted island with enough food and water to survive and not have to worry about anything, I think they could all get along well enough so that they can build a shelter to protect each other from the elements. All they would have to do is tolerate each other until they find help or someone comes to rescue them. But if they find out that one of the people in their group can't handle the situation and start to freak out. I think they should get rid of the person or tell them they have to leave before they get out of hand. Another thing this group of people should do is try to keep them selves busy during the day so their not thinking about their situation. Also, I believe they should spend all day away from each other. If they do this I don't see why they would have any problems living with each other.

Poem

Last week I learned the poem A Red Red Rose by Robert Burns.
Oh my luve is like a red, red rose,

That's newly sprung in June:

Oh my luve is like the melodie,

That's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonie lass,

So deep in luve am I;

And I will luve thee still, my dear,

Till a' the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,

And the rocks melt wi' the sun;

And I will luve thee still, my dear,

While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only luve!

And fare thee weel a while!

And I will come again, my luve,

Tho' it were ten thousand mile!
 My favorite line in the poem is " O my love is like a melody that sweetly played in tune." This is my favorite line because I love and play music. The general tone of this poem is a man who is deeply in love. And who cant wait to get back together with his love. The hole rhythm of this poem is the same. I like that its the same because it helps you learn the poem and its catchy. Something that I wasn't sure about this poem was if Robert Burns was talking about love as a person, or just the emotion love.

Holiday Season

The holiday season is a time for friends and family to spend time with each other and to make long lasting memories. In my family we celebrate Hanukah.  I have a lot of good memories of the many Hanukah parties we have had through the years.  Every year my Grandma makes Latkes and my Aunt Donna brings what she calls "homemade Gefilte fish" But we all know she really just gets it at Publix.  We also play Dreidel and my Grandpa brings $20.00 of dimes to gamble.  The winner collects all of the money.

My Lazowick cousins celebrate Hanukah with us but they also celebrate Christmas.  This year my sister, grandparents and I did something special with them.  We went to Miami Christmas eve to see the show Cirque Du Soleil and then we went out for a nice dinner.  It was great spending time with them, since I don't get to see them all that much anymore since they all go to college.

Also, this year we did something fun for New Year's.  My parents, sister and I spent New Year's at South Beach.  We hung out on the beach, walked around Ocean Dr and had a nice dinner on Lincoln Road.  To me the holiday season is all about spending time with my family and making special memories.
